Oncology Rehabilitation
Breast Cancer & Lymphedema
Treatments that save a life—like lumpectomies, mastectomies, axillary lymph node dissection, and radiation—frequently damage the fragile lymphatic system. When this system is compromised, protein-rich lymphatic fluid backs up, causing uncomfortable, heavy swelling in the arm, hand, or breast. This condition is secondary Lymphedema.
Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT)
We utilize the clinical gold-standard four pillars of CDT to manage your oncology swelling:
- Precise Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
- Advanced, custom medical compression garments
- Decongestive exercise mapping
- Specialized skin care protocols
Early Clinical Baseline
If you have an upcoming breast cancer surgery or radiation treatment scheduled, it is highly recommended to schedule a baseline measurement with a Certified Lymphedema Therapist *before* your surgery.
Establishing this baseline allows us to track even the smallest fractional changes in your limb volume post-surgery, catching Lymphedema in its absolute earliest, most manageable stage.
